quick update

It's been a while, so here's a quick update:

My family came here for Thanksgiving, and we got to have a holiday with both Toby's and my families for the first time in our marriage. :)

Andy brought over Guitar Hero, and even my mom and dad got into it!

We went to my folks' for Christmas, where we were all miserably sick together. Hey...at least we were together! Check out the croweded dinner table! (you can't see Katie, and can barely see Deano) Here's Katie enjoying her coloring book from Great-Grandma and -Grandpa Wallace.

Finally we got to have Christmas with Toby's parents. Tyler missed opening his presents at my parents', because he felt miserable. He loved ripping the papter off them this time, and had fun playing "Peek-a-boo" with his new hat in the big box.

Katie's homework

Katie's homework this weekend was to work with a parent to disguise Tom Turkey so that he wouldn't get eaten for Thanskgiving dinner. She wanted to make him a cat. She had fun and did a great job.

Happy Halloween!

Katie got to carve her first pumkin. She did a good job, and had fun, despite being hesitent about putting her hand in the slimey goo to get out the seeds. We are still planning to cook the seeds. She got to eat some on her field trip last week, and liked them. She picked her own pumkin at the pumkin patch, so of course I was going to let her carve it. The kindergarteners also went to the Cider Factory. They got to help juice some apples, and they got to drink some. Katie says she had 2 glasses.

Introducing Princess Leia. We took most of her pictures before school. Fortunately, for sick mommy, school was delayed 2 hours for teacher meetings, so I had lots of time to do her hair and take pictures. I was surprised that her hair stayed in good shape all day. It still looked good for trick-or-treating at night, and I didn't have to touch it.

She got to wear her costume all day. At her school they have Storybook Day. The kids are supposed to dress up as a character in a storybook, and bring that book to class with them. Well, I didn't know about that until after we'd gotten started on this costume, so we checked out a Star Wars book from the library, and I'm pretty sure they didn't even attempt to read it in class...too long. I understand the concept: they're trying to keep the costumes from getting too gruesome.

Now, is this not the cutest Ewok in the whole wide world! He got really hot in this costume. Of course, this is Colorado, so when you plan for a cold holiday, you get a warm one, and vice versa. We picked Katie up from school and went to the library. We would've been in trouble with the kids' librarian if she didn't get to see them all dressed up. Then we went out to G'ma and G'pa Kings, where Katie got candy and a box of frozen fish sticks in her bag. Actually, the fish sticks were for me so I wouldn't have to work hard to make dinner, since I wasn't feeling so great, yet.

I took Katie trick-or-treating down our street and back later that night. It's one of the few times I had to work to keep up with her.

Locks of Love

I gave my hair to Locks of Love today. I really liked doing it the first time, and was ready to do it again.

Tyler's first haircut, Katie's new dress

Tyler got his first haircut today. Now he really looks like a little boy. I was a little sad at first to see his hair go, but he's awfully cute this way (in my humble, unbiased opinion).

Katie got her second birthday dress that G'ma Birdie made her. We went outside and had fun with our cameras. There are more of these pictures on the photo site.
